The Qs Together Parent Community embarked on a transformative journey through Marshall B. Rosenberg's book ‘Nonviolent Communication'. This book club served as a positive parenting workshop – helping parents learn positive communication skills to build stronger relationships, and to navigate communication challenges in both family and professional settings.

Positive Parenting Workshops for Lasting Impact
The book club spanned five engaging sessions, providing a space for self-discovery and personal growth. Parents actively participated in weekly meetings, sharing insights from the readings and engaging in discussions, role-playing exercises, and case analyses. This dynamic approach moved beyond passive learning, allowing parents to connect the book's concepts to real-life experiences from both home and work environments.
Parent Reflections & Testimonials
Rediscovering the Power of Communication 'Language is not just a tool for passing information; it’s a bridge that connects hearts. I used to focus more on my own views and needs in my communication. This book taught me how to express my thoughts while still considering the feelings of others, making my communication more effective and compassionate.’
Enhancing Empathy 'This book emphasised the importance of empathy, and the book club discussions reminded me that empathy is not just about understanding others’ emotions, but also about respecting their needs. In real life, when we truly understand the feelings of others, many conflicts and disagreements can be resolved. The case discussions in the book club helped me practise this skill.’
Choosing the Right Words ‘Through reading and discussions, I learnt how to use nonviolent language in communication. By using expressions that are non-judgemental and non-aggressive, it makes it easier for others to accept my ideas and opinions. There have been times in the past when my inappropriate expressions led to arguments. Now I am more aware of how to communicate with warmth.’
Strong Community Support ‘This book club is not only a learning platform, but also a community of support and encouragement. Here, we share our feelings and experiences, support each other, and grow together. This collective learning experience has given me strength and motivation to uphold the principles of nonviolent communication.’
